Traditional turmeric infusion for mild digestive discomfort in adults
Type
Traditional herbal infusion; not a treatment for disease.
Ingredients
• 0.5 to 1 gram dried turmeric rhizome or powder.
• 150 ml water.
Method
1. Bring the water to a boil.
2. Add the turmeric, cover, and steep for 10 minutes.
3. Stir and strain if using pieces.
Responsible use
The European Medicines Agency describes this as a traditional adult use for mild digestive complaints. Do not assume that a tea has the same effects as a concentrated extract or supplement.
Contraindications: Do not use medicinal amounts during pregnancy or breastfeeding, in people under 18, or with bile-duct obstruction, cholangitis, gallstones, or liver disease without professional guidance. Stop and seek care for persistent nausea, dark urine, unusual fatigue, or yellowing of skin or eyes.
